STARKVILLE, Miss.(WCBI)—Dancing, singing, photography, and painting are just some of the forms for artistic expressions on display Saturday morning at McKee Park.

It was part of the arts in the park. Kids under the age of twelve were invited to the Children’s Art Festival to explore creative outlets. Dozens of volunteers lead demonstrations in everything from ceramics, yarn art, musical instruments, and beading. All with the hope that the kids left the park feeling inspired.

“We needed to do something that was going to spark kids creativity in the community and we wanted to do something free that would be available to anybody any child regardless of economic circumstances and that’s what we came up with was a festival. Our goal was not to give lessons or teach as much as to spark creativity,” says Event Chairmen Laurie Burton said.

Starkville arts council, along with MSU’s college of architecture art and design, were sponsors of the art festival.
