VIDEO: Columbus Kicks Off Annual Blues Festival

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The city of Columbus is kicking off the July fourth weekend with the tenth annual Southside Blues Festival.

This year’s festival features games, food, and live music.

For tonight, local gospel acts such as Big Tone, Sounds of Judah, Armondo Adams, The J-P Band, and Otis Ealy will all hit the stage to cap off the three day festival.

Wendy Blunt, of Southside Benevolent Organization, says it’s all about coming together.

“We’re trying to do something a little different this year, with everything that’s going on in the community, we want to let everybody know that it’s still Ok to come fellowship and have fun,” Blunt says.

Radio personality Richie Cousin says, “one of the things is, when you leave here, you’ll see everybody fellowshipping and having a good time, and that’s mostly what this area needs.”

Organizers say they expect well over a thousand people to come out for Saturday’s event.
