UNDATED, Miss. (WCBI)- After a rush in the early weeks of the Legislature, two bills that would consolidate four Golden Triangle school districts now face a Tuesday deadline.
The House and Senate Education committees must act by the end of the day Tuesday for the bills to consolidate the West Point and Clay County and Starkville and Oktibbeha County school districts to remain alive. The Clay County bill was approved by the Senate two weeks ago but the House Education Committee hasn’t taken it up. The committee is scheduled to meet tonight and Tuesday. The Starkville-Oktibbeha bill passed the House but has been sitting in the Senate Education Committee, which meets Tuesday. The bills are on each committee’s agenda.
