STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Owners and their pups came out to Mississippi State this Saturday morning to walk and promote healthy pets and healthy people.

The college of Veterinary Medicine Technology 2014 Class and the MSU Health Center hosted the event held on the drill field. Free body condition scoring was done by VMT students for each animal in the walk and free BMI and blood pressure reading for owners.

“The goal is just to kind of get healthy pets and healthy people. So we want people to get out there and be more active and in doing that, we want them to get their dogs out there and be more active because overweight is not good for either,” said Delaney Sims, Student Class President.

About 75 people registered and participated in the walk. The money raised at the event will go to the vet tech class and their looking to also donate a portion to the local humane society.
