Video: Eupora’s Morton Signs With Mississippi Delta

EUPORA, Miss. (WCBI) — The dominant force down low for the Eupora Lady Eagles is heading to the next level in her basketball career.

That force is 6’6 Jabrieya Morton, the double-double machine that has been a part of Eupora girl’s basketball for the past five seasons, signed with Mississippi Delta Community College, Thursday.

“[Mississippi Delta] told me that they want me to focus on my academics first, then basketball later”, Morton said, “Some of the other colleges just wanted me to play for basketball.”

Eupora girls basketball head coach Danya Turner said Morton has progressed every year she was a part of the team.

“She has her best years of basketball still ahead of her”, Turner said.

“[MDCC] is getting a player that doesn’t have a mean bone in her body”, Turner said of his force on the block.

“…she’ll help anybody. She is a teammate first. She looks out for her teammates. She’ll try and help them any way that she can. I think that’s one important aspect of being a college player is being concerned about the welfare of your teammates.”
