Video: Experience to Help Schaefer’s Bulldogs on Road Trip

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Head Coach Vic Schaefer brings back many starters from the ultra-talented Mississippi State Bulldogs team from a year ago that won a school record 28 games.

The Bulldogs will be on the road a lot to start 2016, going a month between home games between November and December.

“We’re on a plane a lot, including one across to Hawaii,” Schaefer said.

“It’s going to be a challenge. I don’t have any doubt it’s going to be a challenge for me as a coach, trying to decide how hard we practice today, maybe take off today, but we got depth, and I think that’s an exciting piece with this team. We’ve got some depth, we’ve got some veteran depth, and I’m really excited about my two freshman.”

Hail State Hoops returns leading scorer Victoria Vivians, who has confident the returning talent can overcome the long road trip.

“We’re a veteran team so it shouldn’t be a challenge,” Vivians said.

“We should be used to going on the road and playing but I’d say the biggest challenge for us is coming back to school and keeping up with the books. Basketball will be ok because we practice on the road, it’s probably the academic part.”

State tips off the regular season on Thursday, November 3rd when they host Arkansas Fort-Smith at 6 P.M.
