COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A separation of church and school leads to a new name and new beginnings. Immanuel Christian School and Immanuel Baptist Church broke ties last month. The church then asked the school to change its name. After much consideration the many suggestions the School Board decided to name the school Columbus Christian Academy.

Billy Thomas, who was part of the naming committee, had this to say about the name change: “This gives us a chance to start a new beginning and Columbus Christian  Academy was an obvious choice for us because we got our students and parents involved. That was the name that came up the most.”

Thomas says they received a ton of support from business leaders, faculty and staff as well as Alumni.
