VIDEO: Gauntlet Schedule Continues For Rebels Vs. Georgia

OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) — The argument can be made that the #23 Ole Miss Rebels have the toughest schedule to start the 2016 season amongst Power Five schools.

Coming off its most recent come-from-behind loss against the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide, the Rebels will have to shake it off quickly, as the #12 Georgia Bulldogs come to town this upcoming Saturday.

“There’re so many mistake being made, particularly on the defensive side, that we’ve got to get fixed”, head coach Hugh Freeze said.

“There’s a lot of good things at times, but we got to get the third downs and explosive plays fixed. Then, offensively, we can’t turn the ball over that results in 14 points.”

The Bulldogs have won ten straight against the Rebels, and a familiar face will be coaching on the opposite sideline.

Kirby Smart, former Alabama defensive coordinator, leads the Bulldogs and the Rebels say the looks they’ll see against Georgia differ from what they say in his years with the Tide.

“Defensively it’s a bit different then what we are use to seeing from him…”, Freeze said, “…he’s playing a lot of more odd fronts, which you know I’m sure he’s adjusting to what he thinks is best for his team.”

“They play lot of the similar stuff, but Georgia plays a lot more three-four than what Coach Smart did at Alabama…”, senior quarterback Chad Kelly said, “…so we’ve just got to be prepared for the blitz. Hopefully throw it around a little bit. Be able to run the ball too, but they’re a good team.”

Early lines in Vegas have the Rebels as seven point favorites.
