MISSISSIPPI. (WCBI) – A two car accident on Highway 82 East brings out the jaws of life and sends one person to the hospital.

According to witnesses and Mississippi Highway Patrol, just before 2:00 p.m., a white Kia driven by Diann Cannon of Columbus stopped on Highway 82 East after she saw a silver car flipped into the median of Frontage Road.

According to Highway Patrol, a black Ford F-150 driven by Harold Guyton of Starkville, rear-ended and side swiped the Kia.

The driver of the Kia and the Ford were able to get out of the car, but the passenger side of the Kia was too badly damaged for the passenger to open the door.

Firefighters were called to the scene and used the jaws of life to free the woman.

She was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
