COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Lawmakers will meet Thursday to discuss whether or not to consolidate Starkville and Oktibbeha County schools.

House leaders planned on discussing the issue Wednesday, but the item did not make it out of the subcommittee meeting.

Starkville school district leaders are working alongside lawmakers to make revisions to the proposed bill.

District leaders want to make sure the proposed consolidation bill does not affect the quality of education that helped make the district a success.

Lawmakers will bring it up during Thursdays full committee meeting.
