Video: Lee County’s Newest Manufacturing Firm Ramps up Training for First Employees

SHANNON, Miss. (WCBI) — The first of as many 650 workers at Lee County’s newest industry have been hired. German automotive supplier Grammer A-G says it has begun training the first dozen workers for its new plant in Shannon. The workers are undergoing training at Itawamba Community College’s campus in Belden.

The company plans to have more than 100 workers in training by the end of this year. In its first phase, the company will employ as many as 350 workers making seats for heavy duty customers like Bobcat, Caterpillar and John Deere.

An expansion will lead to another 300 jobs for seats in the automotive industry.
