AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) – Some folks in Amory are bit sad over after a maple tree that had to be cut down. The 40-year old, majestic sugar maple tree stood on 2nd Avenue and 3rd Street by the First United Methodist Church. Throughout the years, it was a favorite spot for graduating seniors, wedding parties and family photos to be taken. About  seven years ago, MSU experts treated the tree but determined it still had interior fungus. Experts also said because the tree was close to the sidewalk, street pollution was detrimental to its health. The tree was cut down this week.
