COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-It was a big day for one Columbus family as they helped volunteers with Lowndes County Habitat for Humanity start the building process of their new home.

This will be the 41st home that Habitat for Humanity has built throughout Lowndes County.

The executive director says she is hoping the house will be finished by the holidays.

“Our goal is to have it finished by Thanksgiving. We need all the help we can get. If anybody is looking for a place to serve we would love for them to come out here and be a part and help us to build those home,” says Kathy Arinder.

Habitat for Humanity builds homes for those who are not able to qualify for traditional financing.
