Video: Mississippi’s Flag Removed from Philadelphia (PA) Dsiplay

Philadelphia, Penn. – The city of Philadelphia has removed the state flag of Mississippi from Broad Street as the Democratic National Convention got underway.

City leaders agreed to remove the Mississippi flag after About 50 protestors blocked the street.

According to philly.com, the flag on Broad and another nearby were removed Monday night.

Philadelphia, as host to the Democrat’s convention, placed flags from all 50 states on light poles.

The website reports the city started to receive complaints from residents about the confederate emblem on the flag.

The Associated Press quotes Ouida Meruvia, a spokeswoman for the Mississippi Democratic Party as saying the state’s delegation fully agreed with the city’s decision.
