Video: NAACP Banquet In Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Hundreds of people showed up in Winston County for the 33rd Annual Freedom Fund Banquet Saturday evening.

The banquet was held in Pine Ridge Lodge at Lake Tiak O’Khata. Reena Evers-Everette, daughter of equal rights activitist Medgar Evers was the keynote speaker at the event. It was an honor for her to talk about the 50th year anniversary of her fathers death and his effort during the Civil Rights Movement to end racial inequality and social injustice in America.

“We here to raise awareness of all the activities and raise funds to continue the work that needs to be done for justice for all of us around the world. Being able to walk a little bit in their foot steps and to continue the legacy of equal rights, that’s what’s important,” said speaker Reena Evers-Everette.

All the funds raised at the banquet will go to their back to school rally to by school supplies for children in the county.
Last years event raised enough money to give 250 kids new school supplies.
