VIDEO: National Healthcare Decisions Day

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – End of life planning is not an easy conversation to have, so Baptist Golden Triangle is helping people at least get started.

It’s National Healthcare Decisions Day.

Today, the Bioethics Advisory Committee at the hospital set up a booth to share information about end of life planning.

Hospital officials say it’s never too early to talk about your wishes and to designate someone to make decisions for you if you become unable.

“Death is a part of what we live. The moment we start start to breath is also the moment we start to die, so let’s accept that, get that out of the way. Once you make these decisions, just live your life and forget about that. You’ve got it behind you. It’s on paper. It’s been put away and people know what you want,” says Clinical Coordinator of Palliative Care Debra Rhinewalt.

Baptist Golden Triangle plans on making this information session an annual event.
