STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-There will soon be a new Mississippi Highway Patrol District 5 Troop G Substation in Starkville.
Since being built in 1964, and having undergone expansions in 1886, the facility on Highway 82 is being replaced. During a Tuesday morning press conference Oktibbeha County handed over a land deed for a 10 acre plot of land near the Cornerstone Park to the right of Highway 25 South. The old buildings at 1280 East Lee Boulevard is loosing it’s usefulness.
“To meet the needs as far as the size, room, technological advances. You would have to re wire a whole building to meet those technological needs. Its just going to be more prudent to build another building,” said Criss Turniseed, MHP Troop G.
We could see that new substation within a couple of years from now.
