Video: Northeast Mississippi Hospital Opens New Cancer Center

NEW ALBANY, MISS. (WCBI) – A Northeast Mississippi hospital makes it easier for patients battling cancer who don’t want to leave home to get access to cutting edge care.

Ribbon cutting ceremonies were held for the Cancer Center at Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County.

The hospital completed a$600,000 renovation to the former emergency department to make room for the Baptist Cancer Center.

The Center includes exam rooms, a spacious treatment room and state of the art oncology services.

“For doctors it gives them a centralized place to refer patients for cancer care.  For the patients it gives them one place to come where we think we can offer more comprehensive care in the community, we can offer community support and we have plenty of room and facility to do that,” said Dr. C Michael Jones.

Patients will also be able to take part in clinical trials and other cancer research programs.
