VIDEO: Oktibbeha County Opens New EMA Center

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- Oktibbeha County’s EMA headquarters have officially been upgraded.

EMA Director Shank Phelps held an open house Friday morning at the new downtown Starkville location.

Along with the new and bigger space, many companies and organizations in attendance donated updated equipment.

Phelps says this upgrade is exactly what the community needed.

“This is very outstanding for the community, like I said this is not for us, this is not for me, this is for the citizens of Oktibbeha county and I think this is a blessing for us and we really appreciate it. Out other location was just so small. We got the humongous EOC that we can call, like if we have some bad weather coming in we can get officials from the city, the school districts, members from MSU, we can all meet in one room now and watch the weather,” says Phelps.

Many local EMA directors and law enforcement agencies were also in attendance.
