NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Hundreds of children at a Noxubee County school will have a safer ride on their bicycles this summer.

An organization that promotes safeguards against traumatic brain injuries passed out helmets to more than 300 students at Earl Nash Elementary.

The organization Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) provides support and funding for people who suffer brain injuries.

They also want to prevent more injuries.

“We find in all of the schools most kids ride bicycles, skateboards, whatever,” TBI Program Coordinator Allison Lowther said. “But not many have a helmet and fall are the second leading cause of brain injuries in the state of Mississippi. So, that’s why it’s important for them to wear helmets.”
