VIDEO: Pep Rally Held For Local Veterans

HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI)- Houston High School held a pep rally in support of the community’s local veterans.

The school choir and band performed for the entire school, veterans, and guest speaker Attorney General, Jim Hood.

After taking a moment of silence for the fallen veterans, they individually acknowledged each of the local veterans by name and their service.

Some of the vets said how happy they were to be there and see one another, as well as being recognized for their service by their community.

“I enjoy being with them. I love what we all have done and I appreciate what they have all done and I know what I went through and I know what they been through, some of them, some of them more than me. But I did my part and the Lord took care of me,” says World War II veteran Joelee Doss.

“It’s wonderful, it really is. This is a very special day every year for us because they’ve been doing it for quite a number of years,” says US Navy Veteran Bill Smith.

The school also acknowledged students who’s parents are currently serving or are retired military.
