MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) — Supporters of Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) and challenger Chris McDaniel continue to pour over voting materials at circuit court clerks offices across the region.

It’s all part of a war of words over whether people voted illegally in the June 24 runoff, and whether McDaniel’s claims are enough to warrant a new election.

McDaniel’s camp claims it has found more than 5,000 irregularities. Meanwhile, Cochran released numbers showing only a fraction of that number.

In the 17 northeast Miss. counties where his supporters are doing reviews, Cochran says they’ve found only 62 possible errors.

With his almost 8,000 vote victory, Cochran says it’s not worth reviewing.
