COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Sammy Harris is out shopping for one of his dear friends.
“She didn’t have too much during Christmas time and I just found that out. So I said I’ll go ahead and get something real real nice for her and right now this is the only thing I can think of,” said Harris.
It’s one of the many reasons why he enjoys shopping the day after Christmas.
” On the 26th I ask alot of people what to get and they’ll tell me,” said Harris.
He’s not alone. Robbie Stallings is looking at great deals for her sons.
“Some of these shoes that were like $200! I hope they’re a little less than that now so I can get a couple of pairs for my young son,” said Stallings.
And so is Macqualine Triplett.
“School uniforms and jeans and Khaki pants for school. It’s all about the babies,” said Triplett.
For many people, the day after Christmas is when they flock to the stores. The price cuts are a treat for any shopper.
“We had great door buster deals for the customers, but we have all day long great clearance events that the customers can come and take advantage of. If there’s something that Santa forgot to get them, there’s good clearance pricing throughout the store,” said Victoria Aurigemma, Store Manager for JC Penny in Columbus.
Macqualine says post-Christmas shopping also helps her remember the true meaning of the holiday.
” You don’t have to rush and try to buy everything at Christmas, it’s all about the beginning of the holiday. What it really means. It’s Jesus’s birthday so you don’t have to do everything then. It’s cheaper now,” said Triplett.
Experts say items already marked down 70% before the holiday could be reduced even more after Christmas.
