Video: State Supreme Court Justice Candidates Present Their Cases

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) –While most of the political attention is on the Presidential race, here in Mississippi an important statewide office is also on the ballot.

The race for District 3 Place 1 on the Mississippi Supreme Court is wide open, since sitting Justice Ann Lamar announced she was not running for re-election.

Candidates John Brady, Bobby Chamberlin, Steve Crampton, and Jim Kitchens took the stand and presented their cases before the Columbus Exchange Club on Thursday.

They shared their qualifications for the job and views on issues facing the court, before taking questions from the audience.

Exchange Club member Ann Marie Langford appreciated the opportunity to get such a full picture of the candidates.

“It’s nice to have all four of the candidates here from one election, so that we can get all of their opinions at one time. And when you have a question, you can get an answer from each of the candidates, and see what their responses are, or what political stance is, or what their view is on a situation.”

Election Day is Tuesday November 8th. Should a run-off be required in the Supreme Court contest, it will be November 29th.
