VIDEO: Suspect In Murder Case Pleads Guilty To Armed Robbery

ITAWAMBA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – One of the five suspects in the 2015 Mantachie shooting that killed Andre Taylor, made a plea in Itawamba County on Thursday.

Twenty-year old, Tonisha Johnson plead guilty to armed robbery, which is the underlying felony in the capital murder charge she was originally charged with.

Based on evidence, Johnson’s attorney felt like armed robbery was the best decision for her.

Part of the plea agreement requires Johnson to testify against the three of the co-defendants.

“She’s had a child since this has happened, and she’s plead guilty to twenty years to serve on a forty year sentence, so it’s very difficult, but she did express remorse to the family. The mother was there, and the mother was able to say that she forgave her,” says Johnson’s attorney, Aafram Sellers.

Johnson was 19 at the time of the crime, and her attorney wants her situation to serve as a lesson to young people to not get involved with criminal crime.
