MACON, Miss. (WCBI) — Testimony begins in the fifth trial of a man accused of murder in Noxubee County. The prosecution began presenting its case against LaMarcus “L.A.” Jones. Jones is charged with murder in the 2008 shooting death of Arveo Lane, who was gunned down in his car at the Q5 Club in the Cedar Creek community. The state called Jones’ co-defendant, Mareno Hubbard, to the stand. Hubbard testified about events of the night of the shooting.
Four previous attempts to try Jones have ended in mistrials, due to problems with members of the juries. Testimony is expected to last the rest of the week.
