TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -The Tupelo Buffalo Park has a new addition. This baby giraffe was born Wednesday evening . It stands about six foot tall and is healthy. The baby spends a lot of time with its mother, Patches, who keeps an eye out whenever strangers approach.

It’s not yet known what sex the baby is, but once that is determined, the Buffalo Park will hold a contest asking the community to name the baby. The Buffalo Park will keep the giraffe for about six months. It will then be sold to a zoo or another wildlife facility. The last giraffe was born at the Buffalo Park in 2012.
