TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A local hospital is kicking off National Nursing Week, by highlighting some of its own.
On Sunday, Tupelo’s North Mississippi Medical Center held its 25th Annual Nursing Excellence Awards, where it recognized nurses from there.
Workers say it was a way for the hospital to honor them for their outstanding performances in their areas of expertise.
“Nurses are often the unsung hero in health care,” said Ellen Friloux, nursing supervisor. “They’re the person that’s there 24/7, taking care of patients when the bedside call button goes off, it’s a nurse who’s going to run down and check on those patients. So their expertise is absolutely vital.”
Hospital workers say these award recipients were nominated by their peers, supervisors and hospital management.
