TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — It was a chance for people from one of the tornado ravaged areas of Tupelo to come together.  Residents packed the Lane Chapel CME church on North Madison street to hear a little gospel singing, and praise God that there was virtually no loss of life in the Tupelo area during the storm one week ago. But members of the Park Hill Community also got to hear from various Tupelo officials about the progress on the recovery efforts. City Council President Nettie Davis arranged the meeting in her ward. She was impressed with how things have progressed in a week.

“You can see the difference there’s been an excellent cleanup,” said Davis. “We’ve had volunteers to come up here from day one from all over the city and out of the city. People from Smithville. People from Corinth. People from just about everywhere coming to help us to get Tupelo back to where it should be.”

There was a chance for those in attendance to ask questions and voice their concerns. Mayor Jason Shelton has held several of these town hall meetings in the various areas affected by the storm. He wants to assure residents that the city is doing everything it can to provide resources for those who are in need.
