TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The cool weather this morning gave way to sunshine and a nice day for the 11th annual Blue Suede Cruise in Tupelo.
Hundreds of vintage automobile engines and assorted accessories were on display in the parking lot of the Bancorp South Arena. Event Coordinator Allen McDaniel says typically the cars must be at least 25-years old. McDaniel says there is no question that Tupelo is an automobile town.
“I do think there’s been much more emphasis placed on the automobiles here especially with the opening of the automobile museum which was ten years ago. And then you have Toyota coming in, the Blue Suede Cruise came along ten years ago. There is a lot more emphasis on the automobiles, whether they’re new or whether they’re classic around the Tupelo area,” says McDaniel.
McDaniel says he expected at least 6,000 people to attend Saturday”s event.
