OKOLONA, Miss. (WCBI) — Voters in another school district get to decide this month whether to pay for major building improvements.

The Okolona School Board also has set an Aug. 26 vote on issuing $2 million in bonds for renovations at its central offices, a new football stadium and improvements to its buildings.

Two years after coming out from under state control, district leaders say the improvements are needed to continue efforts to upgrade academics and health and safety for students and staff.

60 percent of voters must approve the referendum for it to pass. Lowndes County schools have a referendum the same day on a $47 million bond proposal.
