Video: Well-Known Nettleton Bridge Gets A Makeover

NETTLETON, Miss. (WCBI) – A walkway bridge in Nettleton is back open again to foot traffic.

The bridge has been apart of the community for more than 80 years, and brings a lot of pride to residents.

It was washed out last Christmas, so locals donated money to replace the bridge in memory of loved ones.

The renovation took six to eight months, and cost around $2,000 dollars.

“This is just a simple bridge across a ditch, but it’s everybody’s in Nettleton that lives here, or went to school here, or has grown up here, is connected to this bridge one way or another, and it’s just sort of a little minor thing that we have to be proud of,” says Nettleton Mayor Mim Riley.

Pubic Works helped out with the project by adding an extra culvert and rocks around the bridge.
