Video: Work Progressing on Lowndes County School Projects

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) –Kids are back in school, as construction workers build new classrooms in Lowndes County.

Construction a Caledonia Elementary should be complete by the end of October.

Schools Superintendent Lynn Wright says students are scheduled to move into the new school this coming January.

Work continues on athletic facilities at the campus.

Meanwhile, foundation work continues at the site of the future career and technology center off Lehmberg Road. Construction should be done by January 2018.

“We appreciate, so much, the hard work of the I guess you would call followers of Lowndes County whose vision enabled us to get all the industry we have in Lowndes County that has allowed us to have the revenue to move forward with these projects.”

There are 75 million dollars worth of construction projects going on at county schools.

A bond issue is helping pay for them.

Work is also going on at New Hope and West Lowndes.
