Video:Parents Brainstorming Events For High School Seniors

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Dozens of Starkville High School parents are coming together to plan their kids’ last year of high school.  They met Monday night to brainstorm ideas.

A swimming party, bonfire, and a tailgate are some of the fun events planned for this year’s Starkville High School Seniors.

Parents sat around the table organizing ideas and dates for the planned events.

This is the first year for the 2017 Parent Group.

It’s a bonding experience not only for the students, but also for the parents.

“Our idea was to bring all the seniors together, and so in doing that, that gave us an opportunity to not only meet the other seniors, but to meet their parents as well,” says parent, Shlynn Morris.

We also talked to parents about how they feel about the misdemeanor simple assault charges against Superintendent Dr. Lewis Holloway, and parent John Brocato is upset that the school board has made no comment on the situation.

“I think that it sends a terrible message to everybody whose involved with the school district. I don’t know anybody who in a similar situation would expect to keep their job after something like this happened. Literally, I don’t know anybody who would expect to do that, and so it bothers me a lot. I think it sends a terrible message about the district, and about the town as a whole.”

Other parents didn’t want to go on camera, but told us they are disappointed in how things are being handled.
