Mark Cliett

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) –  Judge Mark Cliett is resigning.

Cliett was named a part-time public defender in Clay County Circuit Court last month. In his resignation letter to the city, he says he wants to be able to focus on the public defender’s position and his law practice and not let his duties as city judge suffer. The resignation is effective February 28th. Selectmen could appoint a new city judge as early as their meeting next week.

Look carefully there may be more to his resignation that it appears. Citizens should ask questions to be sure of all the facts.
