Two 12-Hour MHP Operations Yields 48 DUI Arrests

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) continues to crack down on people who drink and drive.

MHP Public Information Officer Sgt. Criss Turnipseed said checkpoints in Lowndes and Oktibbeha Counties this past weekend resulted in 48 DUI arrests, along with 11 additional people charged with other crimes.

A federal grant helped pay for the two 12-hour operation conducted Friday and Saturday evenings.

The 15 troopers worked from 6 p.m. – 6 a.m.

The most arrests were reported in Lowndes County.
