2 Arrested for Alleged Involvement in Early Morning Gunfire

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Two Columbus locals have been arrested in connection with an early morning disturbance call.

Columbus police responded to a disturbance call involving reports of shots fired about 2:33 a.m. Sunday in the area of Alabama Street.

Upon further investigation, police discovered a vehicle at the intersection of Poplar and Maple streets. The vehicle was occupied by 28-year-old Vincent Harris and 23-year-old Shakela Edwards.

Police determined Harris and Edwards were involved in the incident, and were immediately arrested.

Harris was charged with aggravated assault and Edwards was charged with accessory after the fact.

Harris’s bond was set at $50,000; Edwards’ bond was set at $5,000.

Their next court date has been scheduled for March 19.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
