UPDATE: The trio dubbed, “The Trash Bag Gang,” is also believed to be responsible for the burglary of Water Valley’s Turnage Drug Store. Captain Roger Thomas with the Water Valley Police Department says evidence was found that ties the three suspects to the burglary. The three men are still currently behind bars with a $1 million dollar bond each.

ACKERMAN, Miss. — Three men are being held on $1 million bond each in connection with the burglary of an Ackerman pharmacy. Two men were arrested at a residence in south Jackson and the third was arrested in Gluckstadt. Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agents seized nearly 6,500 dosage units of narcotics, six marijuana plants, 30 grams of processed marijuana and a Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) laced popsicle.

The individuals have been identified as 31-year-old Marcus Taylor, 31-year-old Maurice Taylor and 22-year-old Leabrian Myers. The Taylors, who are twins, they were arrested at 1412 Dorgan Street in Jackson and Myers was arrested during a traffic stop on Gluckstadt Road in Madison County. All three were arrested Dec. 7., Myers shortly after 11:00 a.m. and the Taylors at about 12:30 p.m.

“The number one drug abuse problem in Mississippi is no longer marijuana or cocaine,” MBN Director Marshall Fisher said. “The biggest threat is pharmaceutical drug abuse and as a direct result organized groups are focusing on pharmacy burglaries, which have become a major problem not only in Mississippi but in many other states, as well.”

All three are being held in the Choctaw County Detention Center. They have been charged with one count each of burglary of a commercial building.

The arrests were the culmination of a six-month of a series pharmacy burglaries investigation called “The Trash Bag Gang.” Additional charges are pending a review by a Choctaw County Grand Jury.
