3 Qualify for Oktibbeha Prosecutor’s Race

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Three Starkville attorneys have qualified for the Oktibbeha County prosecutor’s special election scheduled for Nov. 5.

The Commercial Dispatch reports that the position opened when Roy Carpenter Jr. ended his almost 30-year career as Starkville’s and Oktibbeha County’s prosecutor in June.

Haley Brown, who was named interim prosecutor by the board of supervisors, is a graduate of the University of Mississippi.

Brace Knox is a Mississippi College School of Law graduate who began her full-time law practice in 2007.

Matthew Wilson operates a general practice law office. He is also an engineering graduate of Mississippi State University.

Starkville aldermen appointed local attorney Caroline Moore as the city’s new prosecutor in June. She has practiced law for 15 years, including time served as Winston County’s prosecutor and public defender.
