4 UAB Students Robbed at Gunpoint

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – University of Alabama Birmingham officials say four students were robbed at gunpoint in a parking deck.

Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/1sNq018) UAB President Ray Watts said in a statement that the students were robbed in a parking deck on 16th Street around 10:30 Monday night.

Watts says the students were treated for minor injuries at UAB Hospital. Details on the extent of the students’ injuries weren’t immediately available.

Watts says the university and Birmingham police are reviewing surveillance footage for more information on the suspect.

University officials are encouraging students to use the campus escort and shuttle systems at night.
