STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Breast Cancer Awareness continues this month with events all over the Golden Triangle.

The Starkville Fire Department hosted a 5K run Saturday morning to honor those who are battling breast cancer or have survived the disease.

Proceeds raised will go to the Patient Assistance Fund, a service provided by the Center for Breast Health Imaging to help uninsured and under-insured women pay for treatments and mammograms.

Those who participated in the Run say they have a personal connection to the battle against breast cancer.

The Starkville Fire Department will also host a dinner Monday night for breast cancer awareness.
