A Lee Man is Accused of Embezzelment and Another of Hit-and-Run

LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-A former Tupelo Police Officer is charged with stealing money from a church.

38 year-old Jimmy Bean was apprehended Friday by Lee County Sheriff’s Department.

Bean allegedly embezzled more than $20,000 dollars from a Lee County churches bank account.

Bean’s bond is set at $75,000 dollars.

And in an unrelated crime, a Lee County man has been charged in a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of another man.

49 year-old Jeffery Culver was arrested Sunday by Lee County Sheriff’s Department officers.

Saturday evening at 5:49, officers were dispatched to Graham Road in Lee County to an accident involving a pedestrian.

Richard Allen Darby, an acquaintance of Culver’s, was walking along the road when he was struck and killed, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been taken to Jackson for further forensic evaluation.

Culver’s bond is set at $175,000 dollars.
