FULTON, Miss. (WCBI) – Fulton officials and community volunteers are moving forward with plans for a small park in the downtown area.

In last week’s regular meeting, the non-profit group – The Fulton Community Volunteers – presented the board with an estimate for the proposed park at the intersection of Main Street and Clifton Street.

Judge Sharion Aycock, a founding member of the Volunteers, asked officials to consider using Ellen Harrison with Landscape Services of Tupelo to design the park’s layout. Aycock says Harrison would be, at it’s highest, $1,200. The board did vote to hire Harrison, and work should be begin soon.

While the park is still in planning stages, the board does have certain elements in mind. The centerpiece would be a large clock recently donated to the city. Once the park is complete the clock would stand on a pedestal about 4-feet off the ground allowing the time to be visible from any angle.

While plans aren’t finalized, there will be benches, hedges, and flowers, plus small plaques detailing the cities history throughout the park.
