ABERDEEN, Miss. – (WCBI) They’re doing their research. They’ll soon begin drafting a plan, but not before hearing from Aberdeen residents.

After spending the morning in a planning retreat, Aberdeen city leaders turned to the public for input on what they would like to see change in their community.

Phil Hardwick of the MSU Stennis Institute led the session Thursday afternoon at Aberdeen City Hall.
Residents say they are excited to see what the future holds for their town.

“We just need to get somebody to come in and bring some industry in to help our citizens here.
And if we can get that, Aberdeen can get back to what it use to be. It use to be one of the richest and wealthiest towns in Mississippi,” says Ward 3 Alderman Sammy Burroughs.

Aberdeen residents can also put their thoughts on paper. Survey forms are available at the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce, as well as the city hall and the library.
