Police Brutality Claimed Against Monroe County Sheriff’s Department

MONROE CO., Miss. (WCBI) – A lawsuit has been filed in Monroe County Circuit Court claiming police brutality against the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.

Joshua Brook Page, of Aberdeen, claims Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies tackled and handcuffed him and then called him an obscenity.

The deputies were dispatched to Pages’s residence in Oct. 2012 for a domestic disturbance call which is where the claimed police brutality took place.

The complaint states Page suffered fractures to his head, bruising and swelling throughout the body, and a chipped tooth.

He is asking for punitive damages in an amount to be determined by a jury against the individual officers involved with the alleged attack.

The Monroe County Board of Supervisors was notified about the lawsuit last week.
