Aberdeen Man Killed in Weekend Wreck

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. – An Aberdeen man was killed Saturday night around 7:30 p.m., after a single car accident on Highway 25 South near Muldon.

30-year-old Christopher C. Payne was going north on Highway 25 toward Aberdeen when he ran off the road and hit a tree.

He was driving a 2002 Chevy Tahoe after leaving his job at Severstal.

Authorities say Payne was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley reported the cause of death to be multiple trauma due to a motor vehicle accident.

Payne leaves behind a wife and young son.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
