ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – There was a good showing today in Aberdeen at the Housing Authority Community Center as people gathered to for some hot Thanksgiving plates.

This is the 18th annual Thanksgiving meal the Walker family has hosted to give back to those in need around their community. Over 40 family members and volunteers worked hard to put together the project just in time for the holiday.

“I grew up in this community and I still stay a piece away from them but not far but it feels great to give back. Most of them come in and sit and then they’ll just eat and just leave ,but we have a lot of carry out so we carry them out all through the community,” said organizer Alice Vassar.

The menu included all your traditional foods such as turkey, stuffing, corn, sweet potatoes and much more. By the end of the day the Walke’s were hoping to have served more than 300 people all around Aberdeen.
