Academy Sports to Bring 125 Jobs to Tupelo

TUPELO, Miss. — Academy, Ltd. (d/b/a Academy Sports + Outdoors), a $4 billion, premier sports, outdoor and lifestyle retailer, announced that it will open its first store in Tupelo, Mississippi at the intersection of N. Gloster St. & Barnes Crossing Rd. in 2015.

Academy Sports + Outdoors currently operates four stores in Mississippi and is known for its commitment to being the low price leader on its wide selection of casual and athletic footwear and apparel, team sports and golf products, patio sets, barbecue grills, along with hunting, fishing and camping equipment and gear. The company will also open a new store in Olive Branch in 2015.

Academy Sports + Outdoors’ Tupelo store will be approximately 62,000 square feet and bring approximately 125 jobs to the community. The store will provide many services including assembly and delivery, hunting and fishing licenses, scope mounting, bore sighting, line winding/spooling, propane exchange and racquet stringing and have a broad selection of local team gear.
