Accused Puppy Mill Owners Charged

ALCORN COUNTY, MISS. — Multiple charges have been made against the owners of the two large puppy mills in Alcorn County, raided in late October.

Their initial appearance was in Alcorn County Justice Court on Wednesday. Larry and Juanita Meeks of 3425 County Road 100 and Orville and Gloria Grenhaw of 15 County Road 159 were all charged with cruelty, neglect, and abuse of animals and livestock. Charges were in connection with the search and seizure of 170 abused animals.

A court appearance is scheduled for time within six weeks. Evidence gathered during raids will be presented to the judge.

The owners could face fines without any jail time.
