ACKERMAN, Miss. (WCBI) – The next mayor of Ackerman will now take home less money per year.
The Ackerman Board of Alderman voted 4 to 1 on reducing the pay for mayor from $48,000 to $18,000.
The city has a little over 1500 residents and Alderman say, the salary for the part time mayor was too high for a city of that size.
The changes will take place beginning with the next term.
All towns in MS should take note and get on the wagon. They should also change the law that allows tax collectors to get a percent of taxes collected. All those county jobs should be a set amount that isn’t out of wack and not based on anything.
